Error: Cannot process an external authentication

In MYOB Advanced to clear the error The system cannot process an external authentication, clear the association on the external identity

Purpose


To assist you in resolving errors logging into MYOB Advanced.

Note: You may not be able to clear the association yourself and you may need to have an administrator perform these steps.  You will then be able to do the Re-associate steps as required.

Log In Error


If you experience an error logging into MYOB Advanced, please complete the below steps:

  1. Select the Purple 'Sign in with Secure Authentication' button.
  2. Enter your MYOB 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) credentials.
  3. You will be returned to the main login page where the error will be prompted. Simply select the purple button once more to log in.

If the issue still persist or you are unable to access your 2FA credentials or code, you will need to Clear the Association and then Re-associate two-factor Authentication.

Clear the Association


When errors occur impeding you logging into MYOB Advanced using Secure (two factor) Authentication, you need to clear the association of the affected user.

For more details refer to Removing Two Factor Authentication.

Once the association has been cleared in each tenant for the User, you will be able to log in using the Green Sign In button.  To be able to use Secure Authentication again, follow the steps in Re-Associate Two-Factor Authentication.

Re-Associate Two-Factor Authentication


To re-associate your user profile with the two-factor Authentication:

  1. Log in to MYOB Advanced with the Green Sign in button.
  2. Click on your user name in the top right-hand corner of the screen and select My Profile.

  3. Click the External Identities tab and click Associate User.

    The MYOB Secure Access Sign up screen appears.
  4. If you have previously created a Secure Access (2FA) account, click Already have an MYOB account.
  5. Enter your MYOB 2FA credentials and click Sign in.
    You are taken back to the MYOB screen and your user is now associated with your MYOB 2FA Account.
