Get ready for your next major upgrade of MYOB Acumatica with BusinessHub

Purpose


This article provides an overview of the MYOB Acumatica twice-yearly, major upgrade process and how BusinessHub can help you prepare for your next major upgrade, including:

MYOB Acumatica upgrades are scheduled twice a year as part of your subscription and are necessary for compliance and security reasons. Upgrades also offer new features and improved functionality. All upgrades occur from approximately 10pm-6am NZT on your scheduled upgrade date.

Admin users in MYOB Acumatica will receive in-app upgrade messages 30 days before and 7 days after their upgrade if they have opted to receive these communications (click here for further details on managing MYOB's in-application notifications).

MYOB schedules the upgrade of your site to the latest version available 45 days prior to the month of your upgrade (Latest Release Version).

Release Readiness Recommendations & Support


  1. Check your upgrade date is suitable and does not occur on a day that you will have a pay run or other batch process open.  Ensure that your upgrade does not coincide with other important business events (such as an audit) or when key system contacts are unavailable.  If you need to reschedule your upgrade, let BusinessHub know ASAP and at least 5 Business Days before your scheduled upgrade date.
  2. Plan your pre-upgrade testing.  Please let BusinessHub know if you would like our assistance with preparing a Release Readiness Test Plan (this is a Support Service*) or completing testing as per your approved Release Readiness Test Plan (this is a Consulting Service*).  BusinessHub asks MYOB to provision an EAP Sandbox for your pre-upgrade testing - we will let you know when it has been provisioned. Book a Pre-Upgrade Review to further discuss the upgrade assistance you require (this is a Support Service*).
  3. Book a System Review with your BusinessHub Account Owner to review how you are currently using MYOB Acumatica and make a plan to improve it, leveraging the enhancements in the new release (included in Premium Success Plans or allow 3 hours of Consulting Service time*).
  4. Republish and maintain your Customisations.  Major releases contain breaking changes. Customisation packages should be republished in your EAP sandbox (to identify any issues before you commence pre-upgrade testing) and your LIVE site (ASAP after your upgrade). Learn how to Publish Customisations or schedule a time for BusinessHub to republish them for you (Support Service*).  Log a support request with BusinessHub for further assistance.
  5. Ensure STP reporting and email processing is disabled in your EAP sandbox before testing. This is usually completed by MYOB, but worth checking before you start testing.
    1. To disable STP reporting: Deselect 'Enable STP' on the STP tab of the Payroll Preferences screen (MPPP1100) in your sandbox and save. 
    2. To suspend email processing: Select 'Suspend Email Processing' on the Email Preferences screen (SM204001) in your sandbox and save.
    Just before your upgrade, Suspend Email Processing in your live site.  After your upgrade, review your pending emails and notifications as well as your automation schedules before recommencing your email processing.

Early Access Program (EAP) Sandbox for Pre-Upgrade Testing


Your sandbox is a copy of your live MYOB Acumatica site upgraded to the Latest Release Version, provided for pre-upgrade preparation and testing purposes.

You should limit pre-upgrade testing to running reports/inquiries and processing transactions within MYOB Acumatica. When testing, do not attempt to:

  • upload any payment files to your bank account
  • apply for bank feeds in your sandbox, or download bank feed data
  • submit any super batches via PaySuper or your superannuation clearing house
  • send emails, payslips or notifications from your sandbox
  • send STP reports (see below for how to disable STP reporting in your sandbox).

Opting out of Upgrade Deployments


There may be some instances where you need to opt out of or reschedule your upgrade date, such as you identifying a software error or issue that would have a material adverse impact on your business and that you do not have time to address, despite commencing your testing promptly after receiving your sandbox.

It is important that you review your upgrade date and undertake sandbox testing as early as possible.  MYOB requires at least 14 days' prior notice is required to reschedule your upgrade date and only permits 1 opt-out per year.

About MYOB Acumatica Version Numbers and Release Notes


The MYOB Acumatica version of your site or sandbox is displayed on both your MYOB Acumatica sign-in screen, as well as within the application by selecting Tools > About.

Here is how the MYOB Acumatica version numbering sequence works:

2025 = Acumatica year release

2025.2 = Acumatica release

2025.205 = Acumatica update

2025.205.1 = MYOB minor update

2025.205.102 = MYOB hotfix

2025.205.102.3844 = MYOB build number 

When MYOB deploys a major release, the deployment incorporates all the latest releases up to 45 days prior to the month in which your major upgrade is scheduled to be deployed. Check the release notes for more information.
