Entitlement accrual issues - why are there Negative "Normal Accruals" in Pay History Reports

Why do Normal Accruals sometimes show as negative on Entitlement History Data reports, which are is selected from the Entitlement Balances of the Employee Details Screen

Entitlement Accrual Transactions

In the Entitlement History Data View, under Accruals, you will find the following Records:

  1. Normal Accruals
    1. Amounts Accrued in the Pay run concerned
    2. Negative Accruals representing an adjustment to the Accrued Balance due to this balance exceeding the Entitlement for the Period, This is generally caused by an Entitlement Adjustment being made to the Accrued Balance. Investigation may reveal that the Adjustment should have been made to the Entitlement Earned Balance.
  2. Rollover Clearing
This represents the Accrued Balance being reduced and transferred to the Earned Balance at the Employees Entitlement Rollover (Anniversary) Date.
  3. Past Rollover Clearing
This represents the Accrued Balance being reduced and transferred to the Earned Balance Where there has been an adjustment to the Accrual Balance prior to the Past Rollover Date, this may be due to a new Backdated Pay or perhaps and Entitlement Adjustment to the Accrued Balance.
  4. Adjustment - Normal Accrual:
Negative Accruals representing the Reversal process of an Adjusted Pay
  5. Manual Adjustment
This item represents an Entitlement Adjustment Transaction which has been allocated to Accrual Balance, this can be either a Positive or Negative adjustment.
  6. FullContract period end Adjustment
Full Contract Accrual is a fixed accrual that distributes the entitlement equally over every pay in the year/entitlement period. The Period end adjustment adds any remaining portion of the Annual entitlement at Anniversary, this will most likely be due to the Employee Anniversary Date being prior to the first payrun in Advanced Payroll, thus not all pay period accruals have been made leaving the system to believe there is a balance to be added.
