About the 2022.2 Release


MYOB Advanced 2022.2 is being deployed by MYOB from May 2023.  This article highlights the exciting new features that enhance the user experience and add functionality. 

To ensure a smooth transition, it is highly recommended that you review our Release Readiness Program and perform pre-upgrade testing, as this feature-rich upgrade comes with breaking changes. Please contact our Support Desk for any site-specific queries.


Breaking Changes and User Action Required


Republish your MYOB Advanced customisations after a site upgrade. BusinessHub will republish them for Premium Success Plan clients upon request (limit 1 per 6 months). Instructions for all other clients are provided above.

New Features and Enhancements

Finance Enhancements


Approval of GL Transactions. Starting in MYOB Advanced 2022.2, GL transactions can only be released and posted after approval by an authorized employee. New changes include a new entity type on the Approval Maps Form, a new email template, a new Approval Tab on the General Ledger Preferences Form, Approve/Reject buttons on the Journal Transactions Form, and GL Transaction approval on the MYOB Advanced Mobile App. Transactions with Pending Approval status will prevent the system from closing a selected period.

Automatic Assignment of the Tax Zone to Sales Orders and Invoices. MYOB Advanced 2022.2 allows for the addition of multiple ship to details and renames the Zip Codes tab to Ship-To Addresses. Tax zones for sales documents are copied from customer location settings, with the system searching for a tax zone based on specified postal codes if none are specified for the customer location.

Dunning Level by Customer Class. MYOB Advanced 2022.2 allows for different dunning processes for B2B and B2C customers by specifying dunning levels for specific customer classes.

Exclusion of Payments and Voided Payments from Open Item Statements. Customer statements with the Open Item type in MYOB Advanced 2022.2 no longer include voided documents with open balances. Only documents closed before or on the statement date are included.

Inclusion of All Documents with Open Balances in Dunning Letters. New in MYOB Advanced 2022.2, dunning letters can now include open credit memos, payments, prepayments, and customer refunds, providing a more accurate reflection of customers' balances for a specific date.

Improved Processing of Batch Payments. MYOB Advanced 2022.2 introduces the following improvements to batch payments, allowing for easier processing and correction of rejected payments without needing to void the entire batch and start over.  

  • A batch can be exported (ABA File) before releasing the Batch
  • An exported batch can be corrected so that incorrect payments can be excluded from the
  • Suppliers' payment details can be changed, and a batch can be re-
  • A batch payment can be cancelled, and all released payments in the batch can be voided at
  • A released batch payment can be voided, which causes all the payments in the batch to be voided at

Improvements in the Straight-Line Depreciation Method. New depreciation engine implemented for Straight-Line and Full Day averaging convention in MYOB Advanced 2022.2.

Preventing Creation of Documents with Dates in the Distant Future. Starting in MYOB Advanced 2022.2, validation of dates has been reinstated to prevent entry of dates not corresponding to any financial period specified on the Master Financial Calendar (GL201000) form.

Supports for multiple base currencies for contracts and the dunning process within the same tenant. Invoices can be created and billed successfully if the base currency of the customer matches that of the originating branch in the AR invoice.

Usability and Platform Enhancements


  • Built-In InfoTips. Context-sensitive Help infotips have been introduced to give users an explanation of a UI element right on the spot. An infotip is a small pop-up window that describes the UI element the user is hovering over or pointing to.
  • Ability to Specify a Custom Title to Side Panels. The ability to specify a custom title to Side Panels has been added.
  • Ability to Generate GS1 EAN/UCC-128 Barcodes in Report Designer. Report Designer for MYOB Advanced 2022.2 now supports generating GS-128 EAN/UCC128 barcodes, which was not possible in previous versions.
  • Improved Diagnostics for Business Events and Push Notifications. The System Queue Monitor in MYOB Advanced 2022.2 has been improved to monitor and troubleshoot the health of push notification and message queues.

CRM Enhancements


  • Enhanced Marketing Lists and Campaigns. MYOB Advanced 2022.2 allows users to efficiently manage marketing lists and campaigns with the ability to add and copy members, enhanced subscription management, and improved layouts for both forms. Minor enhancements have also been made to the leads, contacts, and business accounts forms.
  • Side Panels with Marketing Data for CRM Entities. Side panels have been added to the lists of marketing campaigns and lists, as well as business accounts and contacts, allowing users to view and modify related information while simultaneously viewing records.
  • The Currency of Business Accounts and Related Entities. In MYOB Advanced 2022.2, selecting a currency for a business account class or a specific account synchronizes with associated customers, and affects the default currency for opportunities and sales quotes linked to the account.

Mobile Enhancements


  • Users of the MYOB Advanced Mobile App can now customize the main screen by selecting and arranging KPIs, recently visited records, favourite screens and records, and workspaces.
  • The MYOB Advanced Mobile App adjusts UI element colours on certain screens to match the company's primary colour. This includes the sign-in screen, main menu, workspaces, and MYOB Advanced form screens.

Inventory and Order Management Enhancements


  • Users can now change box dimensions on the Shipments (SO302020) form in MYOB Advanced 2022.2, eliminating the need to open the Boxes (CS207600) form.
  • MYOB Advanced 2022.2 introduces the Inventory Turnover inquiry form for calculating stock item turnover, average inventory, and days to turn inventory into sales. Previous versions used ABC codes and movement classes for inventory management evaluation.
  • MYOB Advanced 2022.2 allows users to convert stock items to non-stock items and vice versa. This can be done for individual items or in bulk using a new mass-processing form, increasing versatility for item-related scenarios.
  • MYOB Advanced 2022.2 now allows users to select the cost layer type affected by the release of inventory transactions for project costs, only if the 'Project-Specific Inventory' feature is enabled.
  • MYOB Advanced 2022.2 now offers the ability to easily copy header notes and attachments from sales orders to shipments and invoices. This feature can be accessed through the following Copy Settings for Order Types:
    • Copy Header Notes to Shipment
    • Copy Header Attachments to Shipment
    • Copy Header Notes to Invoice
    • Copy Header Attachments to Invoice
  • MYOB Advanced 2022.2 adds side panel support to inventory and order management lists and forms, allowing users to view and modify related information while simultaneously viewing a list of records. Check release notes for full list of screens with side panels.
  • MYOB Advanced 2022.2 introduces predefined dashboards for inventory and order management by job duties, including Sales Manager, Purchasing Manager, Warehouse Manager, Receiving Clerk, and Shipping Clerk.

Manufacturing Enhancements


MYOB Advanced Manufacturing Edition 2022.2 introduces the new Engineering Workbench (AM208100) form for creating and modifying multilevel bills of materials. It also allows for the creation of planned transfer orders during material requirements planning and includes a setting to control excessive item quantity for production operations. The update also adds side panel support for multiple lists of records, including Production Order Maintenance and Bill of Materials, and supports blanket sales orders in MRP. Other enhancements include improved UI and management processes.

Email Processing Enhancements


MYOB Advanced 2022.2 now supports OAuth 2.0 authentication for Google Suite's IMAP, POP3, and SMTP protocols to prevent access being turned off for less secure apps. Customers using Google services for email processing with the username and password authentication method should switch to OAuth2. Email Templates have been enhanced, with a renamed form, redesigned lookup table for recipient placeholders, and the ability to use templates in mass emails.

Commerce Enhancements


MYOB Advanced 2022.2 allows connecting to Shopify stores using custom apps, exporting and synchronizing sales orders, and recording guest sales orders from BigCommerce or Shopify with multiple guest customer accounts.

Field Services Enhancements


MYOB Advanced 2022.2 now considers staff members' skills when optimizing appointment schedules. The titles related to total amounts on the Service Orders and Appointments forms have been revised and optimized. Profit margin is now calculated alongside profit markup for service orders and appointments. Non-stock item unit costs in service documents are now updated when changed in associated purchase orders or AP bills. The unit cost column can now be edited, and all related totals and profit/margin fields are recalculated.

Payroll Enhancements

    Improved integration between MYOB Advanced Payroll and MYOB Advanced Workforce Management. This saves you time when you're integrating a new site or onboarding a new employee.
    Payroll updates to help keep Australian and New Zealand companies compliant.
    Resolutions for issues that affected the desktop and smartphone app versions of MYOB Advanced Payroll.
